Viola is a devastated plant based on a wild species native to Europe, which produces flowers in a variety of colours. It often produces single or two-coloured flowers, and this is a pressed viola with purple and yellow petals, enclosed in a plate. They look exactly like pansies, and although the smaller flowers are generally considered violas and the larger ones pansies, they tend to be difficult to distinguish as the size of the flowers varies with growing conditions.
