Description
Traditional ‘Ajrakh’ involves various stages of dyeing and resist printing using natural dyes and mordants. The resist technique is blocking certain areas in each stage of dyeing. This is a cumbersome and difficult way to print. Some colors are printed on the cloth using carved wooden blocks. These blocks are carved with intricate symmetrical patterns so that the same block can be used for both sides of the cloth. Lakhir Velvet Petit Lumbar pillow covers. I have very high standards for quality- for construction, for pairing the pillow fronts to backs, for placement of the zipper, for the hand embroidered details- to say nothing of the color combinations. These pillows did not disappoint- very thoughtful and satisfying design decisions went into their construction.
