Daruma is a traditional Japanese wishing doll, often called a “goal doll,” symbolising perseverance and good fortune. Based on a sage monk from 5th–6th century China, who is considered the father of Zen Buddhism, the doll represents his legendary nine years of unwavering meditation — so intense that his arms and legs are said to have withered away. Daruma is closely tied to the Japanese proverb “nana korobi yaoki” (Fall down seven times, get up eight), reflecting the spirit of resilience — much like the English saying, “If you fall off your horse, get right back on.” Note: Due to the handmade nature of this product, slight variations in colour, size, and texture may occur, adding to its unique charm and character.
