In Egyptian culture, the cat, Bastet was a very popular Goddess presiding over the home, fertility, and women’s mysteries and revered as a protector of children. The Celtic Druids believed that some Cats were reincarnated humans who had to live as a Cat to atone for their previous life’s deeds. Romans associated Cat with the Moon Goddess Diana - the household guardian. In Norse legends we see the magical chariot of the fertility Goddess, Freyja, drawn by Cats. Cats are associated with feminine energy and thus there appears to be a link between Cats and female healers. In many cultures, cats are seen as spiritual animals that can guide humans in finding balance and exploring mystical paths.
