Description
George Takei glass votive altar candle from Flaming Idols. George was once best-known for his role of Hikaru Sulu on Star Trek, but now he may be best known for his facebook posts on everything from gay rights to riddles. A survivor of a childhood in a WWII Japanese-American internment camp, George has been an outspoken advocate for sexual, racial and gender justice. He has taken an active role in politics, running for LA City Council, he cast the key vote leading to the creation of the Los Angeles public transit system, and more recently he’s been a spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign. Candle is hand-poured with soy wax and burns for approximately 10 hours. Glass votives are 2.5in high and 2in wide at the base. Each votive is affixed with an opaque sticker with an image of a person and on the opposite side, a translucent sticker with biographical information about the person. Stickers are water-resistant.
