Wholesale 2 brown stoneware storage jars – circa 1920–1940

Two small old stoneware pots that take us straight back to the kitchens and pantries of the first half of the 20th century, when these vessels naturally accompanied the preservation of food and homemade preparations. Both feature a nicely turned, full-bodied shape, accented on the shoulder by fine concentric lines. Their warm, nuanced brown glaze reveals the characteristic variations of these utilitarian antique stonewares. The small pierced lateral ears allowed a cord to pass through to secure a closure. The original lids or closing systems are no longer present. The first, rounder and more compact, measures about 10 cm in height. The second, slightly more slender, reaches about 14 cm. Their differing proportions are precisely what gives the set so much charm. They bear the small irregularities and marks of time typical of objects that were actually used, without detracting from their character. Diverted from their original function, they will easily find a place in a kitchen, on a shelf of antique stoneware, among a few wooden utensils, or simply as small decorative objects with a French country spirit.
