Originally, the caduceus is a staff carried by the Greek God, Hermes (Mercury), standing for peace and communication. This is a misunderstanding between the Rod of Asclepius, which has one snake and no wings, and is the God of Healing. Wishing of Health yearns for good health as they are being engulfed in the medical system.
