sun·burst * a flash of sunlight, especially through a break in clouds * a jeweled brooch representing a sun surrounded by rays * a design in the form of rays diverging from a central point I started carving this piece during the darkest, dreariest days of winter — when the smallest peek of sunlight felt like sweet relief from the cold gray around me. It wasn’t conscious. I just found my fingers creating the rays my heart was longing for. When I sat down to write about it, I looked up the word that had been bouncing around in my mind: sunburst. * “A flash of sunlight through the clouds.” ✓ The kind of light that cuts through and warms your whole being. * “A jeweled brooch representing a sun surrounded by rays.” ✓ Confirmation that I’d created my own version of something people have been trying to capture and wear since the beginning of jewelry. * “A design in the form of rays diverging from a central point.” ✓ Exactly. A universal symbol of the sun — echoed across cultures, time, and memory. If you know our collection, you know the sun shines through much of it — and that’s no accident. Soaking in sunshine feels like taking the vitamins my spirit needs most. This piece is a small way of holding onto that light — and sharing it. This ring measures approximately 1" tall x 1/2" wide and is set with two 6-millimeter turquoise stones. *Note: Photo of loose turquoise stones displays the color variations for this particular piece.
