The wood is finished with ECOS Craft Stain, Zero VOS, non- toxic but still with a resin finish that repels the water. Beautiful! To clean the paint off I recommend using a swedish dishcloth or microfiber cloth. If you use a paper towel the lint is more likely to catch the wood.
