Wholesale Notebook - Harris - Alibabette Editions

These illustrations, both the color wheel and the butterflies on the back of the notebook, were made by the English entomologist and engraver Moses Harris (1731-1785) for his book An Exposition of English Insects, published in London in 1776. His “color system” is built on the hypothesis, very innovative in the 18th century, that all shades come from the mixture of three “primitive” colors: red, yellow and blue.
