The inspiration for this Acadia National Park hat comes from Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse at sunset, one of the most photographed locations in the park and a well known spot on the southern end of Mount Desert Island. From the rocky shoreline visitors can see the white lighthouse perched on a granite bluff, its red beacon shining out toward the open Atlantic. Framed by coastal evergreens and the lighthouse is backed by the simple shape of the keeper’s house tucked into the trees. The design captures the typical scene on a clear evening in late summer, when the sun sets directly over the ocean and casts the sky in soft orange and pink light. At low tide the foreground opens up to jagged rocks and tidepools, often slick with sea spray from the waves below. This spot offers a quiet but dramatic look at Acadia’s working coastline where land, sea, and sky meet.
