I visited Yellowstone for the first time last summer and was completely blown away (figuratively, not by geyser vapor). The otherworldly, funky, dreamlike landscape inspired me a lot. I was surprised to learn Steamboat Geyser can have eruptions taller and more powerful than Old Faithful’s — they’re just more erratic and unpredictable. We visited just before sunset and witnessed the steam venting from the earth, reflecting back orange light.
