Wholesale Type Tape Series: CONGRATULATIONS | Risograph Card

Inspired by the look of email screens on early-2000s mobile phones, this series reinterprets that visual language as greeting cards. For the message area, we designed an original typeface: uppercase letters that are intentionally not “digital-looking,” yet still linear and mechanical. We print these letters at even intervals over a strip of metallic gold tape, aiming for an effect as if a message tapped out on a numeric keypad has just appeared on paper. Each strip of tape is cut and applied by hand. For the graphic area, we created custom emoji specifically for this series and arranged them at equal spacing, then printed them in three risograph colors — blue, fluorescent orange, and fluorescent yellow. Here too, instead of pixel art, we used straight vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines to craft emoji suited for paper. Letter stationery today often serves as an analogue alternative to smartphone messaging.
