Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving from 1861 until his assassination in 1865. He was born on February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, Kentucky. Lincoln is widely regarded as one of the most influential presidents in American history, primarily for his leadership during the American Civil War and his efforts to abolish slavery. Lincoln's presidency was marked by the country's division and the escalating tensions that eventually led to the Civil War. He firmly believed in preserving the Union and worked tirelessly to steer the nation through this turbulent period. In 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that all slaves in Confederate territory were to be set free.
