TOM+HATTY werd in de zomer van 2016 opgericht door Ivy Bossert. Dat is de bedoeling van TOM+HATTY: Bestaande dingen innovatief interpreteren om nieuwe realiteiten en productwerelden te creëren. De naam „Tom en Hatty” zijn de hoofdrolspelers van een fantastisch Engels boek voor jongeren: „Toen de klok dertien sloeg.” door Philippa Pearce. In het verhaal verschuiven tijd en ruimte naar betoverde realiteiten. De dingen zijn niet wat ze zijn, ze zijn hoe je ze ziet.
