The textiles were sourced during a visit to the criée berbère rug auction in Marrakech — a treasure hunt where I select vintage pieces for their beauty and texture, and give them a second life as functional design. Each cushion is handmade and one-of-a-kind, with the charming irregularities that come from age, use, and human hands. FROM THE CRIÉE TO YOUR HOME The vintage textiles used for our BURDU cushions are handpicked during my sourcing trips to Morocco, straight from the heart of the criée berbère — the traditional rug auction held daily in the souks of Marrakech. It’s here, among stacks of timeworn treasures and the buzz of local traders, that I hunt for unique wool blankets and textiles with the right texture, colors, and character. Some may show signs of age or use, but that's exactly what makes them special — and perfect for transforming into one-of-a-kind cushions with soul.
