About Elfenbein

Our workshop was founded in 1957 by Imre Elfenbein. He was my father's uncle. My father learned each and every step of producing the perfect comforter. He took over his uncle´s business after he retired. In the old days, there were several craftsmen who made comforters in Hungary. Nowadays, there are just a few of us who really produce handmade comforters, that is, sew and fill them by hand. Several years ago I joined my father to learn the craft and keep alive this beautiful profession. We place great emphasis on the production of environmentally friendly products: - outside fabrics are made from 100% cotton, - quilt bags are made from 100% cotton, - we pack our products in a reusable vacuum bags.
