Description
Associated with that of horseradish, its European cousin, and the extra virgin rapeseed oil produced by Benoît Poux in Belcaire (11), the fresh and spicy flavor of wasabi, the king condiment of Japanese cuisine, delicately enhances the quality of the flesh of our trout.

Small mountain trout with rapeseed oil and wasabi
I can't buy these again—La Truitelle has beautiful branding and a great story—but unfortunately, these tins were a letdown. I purchased both the Mountain Troutlings with Wasabi and Mountain Troutlings with Kaffir Lime, and multiple customers reached out with the same complaints: the fish is unpleasantly mushy, and the unique flavor notes promised on the label (wasabi, horseradish, kaffir lime) are barely detectable, if at all. I’ve tasted them myself and sadly have to agree.
