Hello friends. My name is Romeu and I am from the beautiful Algarve - Portugal The story of Piri Piri & Co began to be written in 2011, already 12 years ago. At the time, it was “something pioneering in Portugal. I had sown some plants, blossomed and bore fruit. I picked up the harvest and started going to sell by restaurants and supermarkets in Albufeira. The success brought me some questions: “It had so much output that I came to the conclusion that I could not implement production capacity to satisfy all customers. It was from there that I began to think about creating a sauce”. Initially, the delicacy was offered to some friends, who always returned to want more. Then, he arrived at a restaurant where “the owner tasted, liked it and wanted the sauce to serve to customers”, I thought I had discovered a niche market. There was nothing of the kind in the country, only the supermarket sauces, which, as a rule, were quite artificial. In 2011, I dealt with 'all licences, labels' and launched myself into marketing. The first sauce to come out of the lab was Scorpion. Then came Manga Mel and Habanero, completing the initial trio of the offer. To date, more than 40 have passed through the Piri Piri & Co range. Some stayed, others were limited editions, but there are currently condiments based on various types of peppers, with burning for all tastes. Read their story
