About KOTO

Connecting Kyoto's Beauty to the World: The Japanese Concept of WASOU Style. We take traditional Japanese fabrics that have been handed down over the years and create forms that can be embraced in modern daily life, especially by people from overseas. We propose a way of dressing that updates Kyoto's traditions and aesthetics with a modern sensibility. Through our products, we hope that people will feel closer to Japan and come to love it, appreciate each other's cultures, and that this will lead to world peace, ensuring that traditions are passed down to future generations. 【ORIGINS】 KOTO was founded by two Japanese women, Yuki and Ayako. We grew up in Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan, and attended school on the grounds of a temple. From the time we were born, we grew up surrounded by traditional Japanese culture. We then realized our shared desire to make Kyoto and Japan known in some way to people around the world. Thus, KOTO was born. 【OUR MISSION】 If people worldwide can learn and understand a little about each other’s countries and cultures, the world can become a more friendly and peaceful place.
