These are the essential elements for the birth of salt. In front of the Trapani coast, in a territory between Trapani, Paceco and Marsala, the first salt mines known to history were created by the Phoenicians. Salt is produced in summer, when the scorching Sicilian sun becomes an essential ingredient for the production of this type of salt, which is characterized by its white color and persistent crystals. Compared to other salts, Trapani contains more potassium, magnesium and a lower amount of sodium chloride. Even today, Trapani salt is produced using ancient artisanal processes, preferring natural processes and avoiding treatments that are not essential.
