The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano (originally of the “nobles” because it was intended for the banquets of aristocrats) is one of the oldest and most glorious Italian wines: as early as 1685, in fact, the writer and scientist Francesco Redi, author of the famous poem “Bacchus in Tuscany” writes... “Montepulciano is king of every wine”. This wine, which was one of the first to obtain the controlled and guaranteed designation of origin in 1980, is produced exclusively in the territory of Montepulciano, on hilly lands between 250 meters and 500 meters above sea level The grape variety used is only Sangiovese.
