Baharat, from the plural bahar, spice in Arabic, the equivalent of Indian masala, is a traditional mixture of spices from the Arab world, from the Persian Gulf, through the Middle East to the Maghreb area. Also known as the Seven Spice Blend, although the reason is not well known, since it usually contains a few more, at least 8 among which are found, as in this preparation: paprika, coriander, black pepper, cumin, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, calvo or cayenne, among others.
