This gorgeous Staghorn fern gets its name from its leaves (called fronds) because they resemble that of deer antlers. Although other ferns may find this beauty a tad intimidating, as they can grow to be 3 feet wide, they truly are a beautiful living work of art! The Staghorn, also know as 'Elkhorn', is native to Australia and Southeast Asia and has two types of fronds. The most prominent frond is the ‘antler’ frond. These are the large leaves that grow from the centre of the plant and give the plant its antler-like appearance of a deer. This variety of Fern is non-toxic and therefore will be making it's way onto our pet-friendly range. In its natural habitat, the Staghorn grows on trees and attaches itself by its short root system - we are told it loves to sit up high on a shelf in a sunny spot.
