What is a Zokin? In Japan, a Zokin is a cleaning rag, typically made in the last stage of repurposing fabric, when only a small swatch is left and two stitched together and reinforced in the sashiko way, make it a cloth that can be used as a washcloth or a cleaning rag or wipe. Although traditional Zokin are for cleaning, these "Tea Party Zokin", inspired by the Japanese ones, have a layer of cotton batt between the cotton swatches and are more like a mat. Two of these zokin have boro patching at one corner (see photos).
