"Mkate“ means "bread“ in Swahili, the national language of Tanzania. As such, our Mkate Baskets are ideal for serving fresh warm bread but can also be used as a decorative way to store smaller household items. For this basket, the dried brown bark of local banana trees is intricately woven into the natural grasses. The modern and light design brightens your room and adds character to any home.
