For almost a month in September, my sister Kathy Schmitz and I traveled through the French countryside. We went wherever our hearts led and were inspired with each turn of the road. Every boxwood garden, ancient concrete urn, stone stairwell and stained glass window inspired a design for the projects in this book. From the dove carving on the top of a building in the Marqueyssac Gardens, we designed our own interpretation and came up with two sweet three dimensional wool birds. The Eiffel Tower and surrounding gardens inspired the Ville De Paris quilt with pieced blocks and applique vines and bird.
