Hello Angie, We apologize that the product didn't meet your expectations upon arrival. The rods and heads are designed to be detachable so that the inner batteries can be replaced. It appears they may have loosened during transit. To securely reattach them, you need to reinsert the rod and push down with some strength until they are firmly connected.
