Widely used for problems related to the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal and also anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Externally, it relieves stings, rheumatic pains and fungal infections. It is not recommended to use essential oil in pregnancy, and its prolonged use. The leaves can be used fresh or dried and the small branches whole, when fresh. Very popular and versatile, used in a wide variety of dishes and in many countries, its aroma resists long cooking. Its strong aroma allows the reduction of salt in recipes, but it should be used with some moderation, so that it does not become too strong.
