Description
Mahjong is an exciting game of skill, chance, and strategy that tests a players’ observation and memory skills. The game originated in China; possibly as long as 2500 year ago, although the oldest historical record of the game is from the mid-1800’s. The Chinese symbols and characters on the tiles are known as Simples, Honors, and Bonuses. The Verve Culture Mahjong Set features handmade wooden tiles and a wooden box, along with simple instructions. **Please note this set is for the Chinese version of Mahjong. Wood is very light and slightly rough unpolished. Marker marks on the exterior of one of the board sets. No pouch to store the pieces. Thought pieces would arrive in a pouch but instead they were in a plastic wrapper not meant for repeat use. Closures are elastic and a bit tricky to open and close for people with larger hands or physical challenges. Cute but not a fit for us!
