This combination creates a rich, umami-packed sauce ideal for enhancing grilled and barbecued dishes. Barley miso is a traditional Japanese seasoning made from fermented soybeans, barley, salt and koji. It adds a rich complex flavour and umami, which is the fifth basic taste, often described as savoury or meaty. The sauce also includes typical barbecue ingredients such as soy sauce, sugar, garlic, ginger and chilli which provide a balanced mix of sweet, savoury and tangy flavours.
