The Baj Panettone was produced in 1768 in Milan and in the mid-1800s in Piazza del Duomo at the Baj di Confectionery in the first district powered by electricity thanks to the Edison thermoelectric plant- Columbus. Baj Panettone is mentioned in the futurist literature of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, which suggested a leavening to be carried out on board a Caproni aircraft. Giuseppe Baj, who developed the Milanese panettone industry all over the world, won the award for best panettone producer in Milan at the 1887 International Exhibition. Based on known information, Panettone Baj is the oldest existing brand of panettone. Today the production is restarted by direct descendants Tomaso and Cesare Baj.
