Fairy Stone Pendant - Shape: Rough Stone Description of the Fairy Stone pendant in the shape of a rough stone The fairy stone is originally from Canada, more precisely in western Quebec and the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, near the Harricana River. They are collected in the clay at the edge of the lakes in these regions. Calcium carbonate and fossilized clay are the materials that compose them. It is a mixture of fine sand, silt and limestone. They are stones that have been fossilized over the centuries. Their hardness is measured at 3 on the Mohs scale. The group to which they belong is the rhombohedral crystal system. They can be recognized by their rounded shapes, they are rough stones little worked. They were called “the Fairy Stones” by an aboriginal Canadian people, the Algonquins.
