About Hushpiggies

The Smitty's brand was born in Scottsboro Tennessee. Every Labor Day weekend we would meet at the local community center and cook thousands of pounds of pork over an open pit to sell as a fundraiser. Smoke billowed up through the dew filled sky as we watched our dads carry the red hot coals to the pit. The original Smitty's Small Batch sauce would simmer on the 4 burner stove and the kids were told to stay away. It was impossible. We would sneak into the side room that was filled with loaves of white bread and tear into a bag. It wouldn't take long until we were dipping it into the spicy red goodness that was boiling in the small kitchen. That recipe was handed down and tweaked over decades of making it for friends and family. After years of giving it as gifts and supplying to those same friends, it was time to go full steam ahead. Today, the Hushpiggies brand has added 2 more sauces and a spice blend with several more in the testing stages. Read their story
