About Sambal Evie

Sambal Evie is an LA-based collective of chefs, producing a unique edible expression of Chef Evie's Sambal that she created after moving to California. Open the jar and enter Evie’s experience growing up in Medan and recreate her flavor memories with LA’s bountiful produce and ingredients. Sambal is a ubiquitous staple found on every Indonesian table with thousands of different variations. Tangy, sweet and spicy (but not too spicy), Sambal Evie reflects flavors deeply tied to both LA and Indonesia, satisfying that insatiable craving for spice and umami, complimented by the funk of Indonesian shrimp paste (belacan).
