About Dear Jordie

Jordan Cera is a mental health therapist and skincare enthusiast. However, she didn’t always take care of her skin. In 2016, her sister, Demi, made the choice to end her own life, at the age of 25. Jordan was left carrying a heaping amount of grief that she didn’t know how to navigate. Nothing in her line of therapeutic work could prepare her for the loss of the most significant person in her life. For several months, Jordan struggled not only to get out of bed, but also neglected her work, family and hygiene. She knew she had to figure something out, as she had a young daughter who needed her. The depression was debilitating, so Jordan decided to start healing in a very small and doable way – washing and moisturizing her face in the AM. This is when she realized her skincare routine was motivating her to not only wake up, but get out of bed. She looked forward to this daily task, and it eventually evolved into a more elaborate self-care practice. Skin health boosted her mental health. Jordan really wanted to share this gift with her daughter, age 8. Through her work in the mental health field, she understood that the sooner one incorporates healthy habits into their daily routine, the more likely those habits are to carry over into adulthood. While we can’t go back in time, we can start now and help set our children up for success.
