About Cioccolato Calcagno

The small laboratory connected to the Via Maria Vittoria workshop on the corner of Via Lagrange was founded in 1946 and moved to Barriera di Milano in 1961. In that post-war period when everything needed to be rebuilt, chocolate was considered a luxury commodity, a treat to be reserved for holidays. In those years, the Turin tradition, which had not died out under the bombing, returned to light to delight everyone's palates: it came even from afar, attracted by the fame of the Turin chocolate companies. Year after year, Calcagno grew with the city, without losing its identity. If age restrictions have been reached, in 2018 the time comes to choose the path to take, what to do with this reality that is much more than a Small Chocolate Factory. In 2018, Alessandra Castelletto took over the leadership of the new Calcagno and did not do it alone, but involving a heterogeneous group of shareholders, each of whom decided to take part in the project by bringing experience and desire to do business. The goal is to enhance the Calcagno brand as one of the brands that has contributed to the affirmation of Turin among the greats of Chocolate. The challenge is to do it while keeping the flavor of our Gianduiotto and our chocolate unchanged, continuing to produce according to tradition, thanks to the recovery of vintage machines from the ancient laboratory, restored and brought back to new life.
