The SMK brand was born in 1991 when two partners, who resold several jeans brands, felt the need to produce their own models and their own image. Initially, the brand started by producing only 2 jeans models, 201 and 018, which were marketed for 5 years without any changes. Both models had the mold inspired by that time. These models were washed with stone wash, giving the jeans an aged look, with different shades of blue.In 1996 the company changed its sales strategy, opening the first showroom, to resell to multi-brand stores. Simultaneously, the brand begins to diversify the number of jeans models produced. It was only in 1998 that they began to produce their first models of T-shirts and Sweats. Gradually and for 3 years, he introduced into his collection more and varied items, e.g. knitwear, shirts, jackets, jackets, footwear and accessories. His name and registration, which was initially Simarkel, was changed to the more evident initials SMK for reasons of sound and image in November 2003. Also at this time, due to the market change, the brand felt the need to promote its differential image with the consumer. It began with the dissemination of catalogs and displays, aiming, at the same time, a project to launch the brand online, which happened in 2005 with the launch of the website www.smk.pt. This, in turn, was born, from the outset, with a strong and irreverent image portraying the brand itself.
