About Eclectic Mundane

Eclectic Mundane is the brand covering art created by Jimmy Zenisek, an artist making bright, eclectic art in Milwaukee, WI. The brand was born out of the desire to increase the amount of bright, colorful art in the world with pieces accessible to a wide range of customers. Many of the pieces utilize items intended for non-art purposes like the colored lighting gel transparencies typically used for coloring stage spotlights. Others use items from thrift stores or that would otherwise go to recycling/landfills like cassette and VHS tapes. The use of bright colors and minimal compositions is meant to highlights the beauty within familiar objects, shapes, and within the colors themselves. Much of the work is heavily influenced by an appreciation of Color Field and Hard-edge painting styles, with inspiration also drawn from Pop Art, browsing antique stores and thrift shops, and retro color palettes and design styles from the eighties.Read their story
