About Happy Lona

Hi, my name is Nanouk and own Happy Lona. I've been 60 years old now and started my brand Happy Lona in 2019. In the 80s of the last century, I studied product design at the Art Academy in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Until the age of 50, I made art and worked with my husband Jan Jutte, an award-winning illustrator of children's books. Life changed when I turned 50, I started making jewelry and selling it at fairs and events. After a while, I expanded my collection with products from India, silver jewelry, scarves and later also embroidered bags from Kashmir. I became close friends with my producer in Kashmir and this resulted in the plan to expand the work and deliver the products to stores as well. In 2019, Happy Lona was born. Happy Lona includes a colorful collection of bags, scarves and jewelry from Kashmir-India and Turkey. Most products are traditionally made from natural materials, where age-old techniques are used to shape the products. A cheerful mix of folklore and contemporary design, a bit of artistry is not shunned. Happy Lona works directly with the producer on a fairmade basis.
