About Vive Textiles

Vive started in my kitchen as a curiosity project during the pandemic. After learning that food scraps and spices can be used for making beautiful colors, a quick rummage in the pantry left me wondering, what else can I dye with? It turns out the everyday flowers that grow in wild fields prolifically, the sunshine yellows in planters greeting the streets of downtown, the leaves on the trees swaying at every corner - they all create rich, vibrant colors on fabrics. After much experimentation, I have created a garden - a sanctuary, filled with dye flowers and plants, alive with pigment. Every piece of fabric offered is dyed with botanicals I spend all year starting from seed, tending to, eagerly watching bloom and harvesting. Silks are hand dyed, one at a time, intentionally and slowly. No two are alike, as the footprint of each flower leaves its unique, long-lasting color depending on when it was harvested, the pH of the soil, the climate and time of year. Vive is short for "revive," an ode to nature's prolific gifts in the form of velvet soft petals, pollinator-blessed centers and sun-kissed stems. I give flowers a second opportunity to bloom again, eternally, on fabrics that you can cherish and connect with. Each silk tells its own story of nature, but also my story is woven into each piece.
