About Melanie J Chambers Illustrations

Hi, I'm Mel—graphic designer, illustrator, and mum of three (Robert, 17; Violet, 11; and Henry, 8). I’m also a passionate animal lover, sharing my home with a lively crew of pets. Life in our house is full of energy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I've been drawing since childhood, focusing primarily on animals, which have always been my greatest passion. A cherished friend once told me that animals reflect the way we treat them, a perspective that continues to influence my work. My love for illustration was reignited when my daughter Violet discovered my old sketchbooks, and she’s since become my muse, inspiring me to share my art with others. Diagnosed with ADHD later in life, I’ve come to see it as a strength rather than a challenge. Growing up, I was discouraged from pursuing art as a career, but today I prove that creativity can indeed be a livelihood. ADHD helps me view the world in unique ways, and drawing provides a focus that calms my mind while bringing me joy—and, I hope, others as well. I also run workshops for children, where I teach not just design skills, but also how to embrace what makes them unique. I encourage kids to celebrate their differences, whether it’s ADHD or anything else, and to pursue their dreams without fear. Thank you for visiting my site.
