About Anne Pick Art

Anne Pick (she/her) started block printing in September 2019 and it changed her life. A lifelong art and music lover (and former music journalist), her concert poster collection inspired her to start creating and printing her own. Printmaking ended up being a key element in her healing. Reduction block printing is the perfect medium for her poster printing dreams. Posters are printed by hand in single editions, which means every print is an original, not a digital replication. The reduction method, in the same vein as linocut printmaking, involves carving each color layer from the same block. Anne first carves all of the white elements from the block, prints the first color, then repeats the process with each layer, carving until all that remains is the black elements of the design. Her art draws inspiration from music, spirituality, humor, healing, sapphic love, the mysteries of the universe and revolution. Anne Pick is an Oregon-based printmaker, musician and writer with roots in Portland, Bend and Eugene. Read their story
