The Backyard Food Company was started in 2014 after a cancer diagnosis caused co-founders Matt McClelland and Louby Sukkar to reexamine what was in their foods. They planted gardens and began canning the excess produce. They noticed that without all the extra junk that the national brands added to their foods, everything tasted fresher.
