Hello...I am, Jodi, the artist behind Hygge (hoog-a) Prints, by HyggeWoven. I studied art and printmaking for one year in college, and must confess that I really struggled with the process (life-drawing was my thing). Years later it just clicked, and I'm in love with it! Each time I complete an art piece I'm overwhelmed with an indescribable joy and satisfaction. I work from my home studio overlooking the Straight of Juan de Fuca and Cascade mountains, in a seaport town at the tip of the Olympic Peninsula of, Washington State. My art is an expression of what connects us, and is inspired by my Scandinavian ancestry and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Each piece is made using block print, or linocut relief printing technique. This is done by drawing an artwork on paper, then transferring it to a linoleum carving block, carving the transferred design into the block, and finally, printing the image on paper. Each piece is printed with a solid wood handmade press from the Netherlands, using non-toxic vegetable based inks and quality recycled paper. I sell printed (re-prints) and hand printed cards. It takes 5 days for a hand printed art piece to dry. If you are ordering hand printed items there is a potential 8 week ship date (leaves my studio in 8 weeks).
