About Cilé

Cilé is a young French brand of high-end wallpapers, drawn by hand, in a workshop in the heart of Burgundy. The brand develops poetic, daring and refined decors, halfway between art designs and traditional tapestries. The profusion of details and the finesse of the lines make the patterns vibrate, the drawing is reinvented each time you read it, the landscapes vary according to the eyes. A wallpaper is the sum of inspirations, intentions and accidents that create the story it weaves. It is a turbulent and elliptical story, the wall becomes the substrate of a fiction. “The North East is the beginning of my story, (I was born in Belfort), and it is from a point in the North East that I draw the first line of each drawing. I then let myself be carried away by a rhythm, the friction between a felt pen and the paper, or the radio running in the background, that the line never catches up with. I have a journey in mind that I can carry on freely. It's a memory or a destination. The image is slowly modulating, waiting for its latest form. I weave my landscapes with very small patterns, each filled space reflects a duration. Drawing is a tool for fixing the passage of time. It is there, palpable, minutes clinging together to form a tree, whole months for a horizon. So it's relaxing to lean back against the trunk and calm the rhythm, like a trifle at time.”Read their story
