Starfangled Press makes playful, down-to-earth paper goods, drawn with an Appalachian accent. Our cards, stickers, and prints connect with people in meaningful and refreshingly unexpected ways, bringing humor, heart, and a modern mountain perspective to everyday moments. Every design is hand-drawn using the same layered approach artist Kristen Necessary developed as a traditional printmaker, now blended with digital illustration. Layers of flat color, texture, and clever storytelling create an instantly recognizable style that turns everyday goods into small works of art. Kristen’s Appalachian roots run eight generations deep in the hills of Virginia and North Carolina. Her work draws on that life experience, southern mountain culture, and everyday magic while steering clear of tired stereotypes. With a quirky sense of humor and a deep connection to place, her designs feel personal and relatable, with a voice that resonates far beyond the mountains. Since opening our flagship storefront in Brevard, NC, in 2016, we’ve pursued a simple but powerful mission: to bring more art into daily life. Southern Living called our space a “shrine to paper goods and clever design,” and we’re pretty proud of that. Our shop stands out for its unique style, storytelling, and products people love to take home.
