About Catavento Books

Catavento Books was born from a mother’s love for her language, her culture, and her daughter’s future. Founded by a Brazilian mom living in the USA, Catavento began as a personal mission: to ensure that her daughter not only learned Portuguese but also felt deeply connected to her Brazilian heritage. Faced with the challenge of finding high-quality children's books in Portuguese abroad, she decided to create a space where families like hers could access engaging, culturally rich literature that would keep the language alive across generations. What started as a small initiative grew into a publishing house dedicated to bringing the magic of Brazilian storytelling to families around the world. Today, Catavento Books publishes and curates books that celebrate the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture, helping children develop their bilingual skills in an organic and joyful way.
