The Rhine island Mariannenaue is a European nature reserve and has been a protected designation of origin for quality wine since 2015. The mighty Rhine formed the island of Mariannenaue about 10,000 years ago on a bed of limestone rocks with sand and gravel washed down from the Alps. Due to its location in the middle of the Rhine, there is a special microclimate. Here, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Red Riesling find the best conditions on 24 hectares of organic viticulture to ripen optimally. The unique terroir produces wines with a distinctive character of origin. The Rhine island Mariannenaue has been named after Princess Marianne of Prussia since 1902 and is located in the middle of the Rhine opposite Erbach in the Rheingau. Due to the island location and limited vineyard areas, the wines are naturally limited specialties, produced with much love and manual labor, biologically and vegan.
