After 14 rejections from grad programs in writing, a sudden chronic illness, and the loss of hearing in one ear, everything I thought I was building—collapsed. My words felt like they weren’t enough anymore. My body rebelled. The silence was deafening. So I turned to my hands. I started metal-stamping bracelets in American Sign Language—my first language, thanks to a childhood steeped in Deaf culture. What began as a small creative outlet in an RV quickly grew into something more: a strange, sacred little shop built from grit, grief, and glitter. A place where expression wasn’t just allowed—it was celebrated. Now, Cosmic Soup is a brick-and-mortar gift shop and indie bookstore where the odd, the magical, and the misunderstood belong. We carry crystals, candles, 3D-printed oddities, handmade jewelry, loud books, and clothes that say exactly what you mean without saying a word. We’re for the daydreamers, the rule-breakers, the chronically ill creatives, the neurodivergent notetakers, and anyone who’s been told they’re “too much” or “not enough.” Weird isn’t just welcomed here—it’s worshipped.
